Remote Edition: How To Setup & Use Macros

Remote Edition: How To Setup & Use Macros

Prerequisites:

  • Bitwise Project Editor
  • BC4/BCX-1 with firmware 1.062 or higher
  • Total Control Remote Edition For Iphone/Itouch v1.3 or higher

Macro Setup Instructions

  1. First you need to setup the macro on the Bitwise Unit.  To do this you create your macros in the Bitwise Project Editor and then you upload them to the Bitwise Unit via the Project Editor.
    1. Video tutorials on how to accomplish this are located here:
      1. Bitwise Project Editor Setup & Use Video Tutorials Click Here
      2. Best practice is to test your macro after you upload it to the Bitwise Unit to make sure it is operating properly.  You do this in the Project Editor.  Once you upload the macro to the Bitwise Unit via Project Editor you can now 'right click' on the macro and you will see the option 'test'.  Click this option to test the macro via Project Editor.  Project Editor will need to be able to connect to your Bitwise Unit in order to 'test' the macro.
  2. After you have successfully created and uploaded your macros to the Bitwise Unit via the Project Editor you now have to connect to the macro in the Total Control Remote Edition application.  To do this:
    1. Open the application
    2. Click on a profile and drill down to the device list you have setup.
    3. Click on the GUI of any existing device.
    4. In the device GUI you will see a 'macros' button in the top/middle of the page.  Click on the button to enter the macro section.
    5. Click the + sign on the macro page to add a new macro.
    6. On the macro setup page fill in the 'Name' and 'Number' fields.
      1. Name: Descriptive field for you to identify which macro this will be on the macro list once it is saved.  Examples might be Power On, Power Off, etc.
      2. Number: This is the # of the macro you setup in the Bitwise Project Editor.  When you create a macro in the Project Editor it will be assigned a numeric #.  You will see a # next to the macro in Project Editor (see Project Editor screenshot below).  This is the # you input here to correspond to the same macro you uploaded to the Bitwise Unit via Project Editor.  #1 & 2 are usually reserved for internal macros so typically your macros will start with the #3.
      3. Bitwise Project Editor Macro # Example
    7. Click the 'Save' button on the top right when you are finished naming the macro and typing in the # of the macro.
    8. You will now be back at the main macro screen.  You should see your macro listed here.
    9. Repeat the process for all of your macros.
